LCA Company proudly announces non-equity open call auditions for their upcoming production of WE WILL ROCK YOU and DISNEY’S LITTLE MERMAID.

Featuring Queen's Music & Lyrics, and Ben Elton's Story & Script, 'We Will Rock You' showcases 20+ Queen hits, including 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and 'We Will Rock You.' This musical tells a post-apocalyptic tale of rebels battling for rock 'n' roll in an algorithm-driven world—a powerful anthem to individuality.

‘Disney's The Little Mermaid’, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's cherished tale and the timeless animated movie, is a hauntingly beautiful love story for the ages. Featuring music by the eight-time Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken, heartfelt lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater, and a captivating narrative crafted by Doug Wright.

Presented by LCA Performing Arts at Aventura Arts and Cultural Center.

Pays: $20/hour for rehearsals. $50/day tech and performance days.

Audition candidates should be strong singers and dancers. Roles may be double-cast.

AUDITION: Please submit a self-tape with a 1-2 minute contemporary monologue and a rock song (WE WILL ROCK YOU) or a musical theatre song (LITTLE MERMAID), by February 10, 2024, by filling out this form. Auditionees are welcome to sing from the show.

 

We welcome and strongly encourage performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as performers with disabilities, to audition.

​WE WILL ROCK YOU - Character Breakdown

GALILEO (Featured Singer) - Male, 18+ - A dreamer, a rebel and the central character. Attractive, sexy, vulnerable, restless, headstrong and stubborn. Lives on his nerves. On a mission to accomplish something in his life. High Rock voice with strong falsetto. Vocal range: D (below middle C) to Bb (above middle C). Full voice falsetto to E (two above middle C).

SCARAMOUCHE (Featured Singer) - Female, 18+ - A sarcastic, hard-bitten cynical girl and Galileo's love interest. A rebel. Deeply introverted and complex. A Goth teenager. A misfit. Uses her self-deprecating wit to cover her sensitivity and vulnerability. Must be able to transform and blossom as confidence grows. Good comedic timing required. Strong Rock belt. Vocal range: E (below middle C) to E (two above middle C).

KILLER QUEEN (Featured Singer) - Female, 30s+ - The villain, an iconic figure. Ruler of the world. Camp, sexy, voluptuous, feisty and funny. A powerful and power-crazy, ruthless boss. Full Soul/Rock voice. Vocal range: E (below middle C) to E (two above middle C). Movement is an asset.

KHASHOGGI (Featured Singer) - Male, 30s+ - Killer Queen's second-in-command and head of Globalsoft's police, who carries out Killer Queen's dirty work. A smooth operator, ruthless and heartless. Attractive, sophisticated, intelligent, sinister, cruel, cold but charming. High Baritone with strong falsetto. Vocal range: D (below middle C) to A (above middle C). Full voice falsetto to E (two above middle C).

BRITNEY (Featured Singer) - Male, 18+ - Leading male Bohemian rebel. A big gentle giant with a heart of gold. Strong, sexy, loveable, innocent, cool with lots of energy. Steet wise. Full Rock voice with ‘scream’. Vocal range: D (below middle C) to B (above middle C). A good mover.

MEAT (Featured Singer) - Female, 18+ - Leading female Bohemian rebel. Rock chick. Aggressive, street-wise, sexy, womanly, tough, common, foul- mouthed, wild, worldly, and experienced. Must be an excellent mover/strong dancer. Strong Rock belt. Vocal range: A (below middle C) to E (two above middle C).

POP / DOUBLES AS THE REBEL LEADER (Featured Actor) - Male, 30s – 50s - POP - An elderly librarian trying to figure out the exact date the music died. Bar man, ex-rebel. A hippie stand-up comic type. A cross between George Carlin and Robin Williams. He's worldly with a natural curiosity and passion for life and music. Good rock voice and comic skills are required. THE REBEL LEADER - The official leader of the Bohemian movement. A rather pompous figure who has made himself an expert on the legend of rock and is perhaps a bit too pleased about it. Light Rock voice-pleasant Baritone. Vocal range: E below middle C to E above middle C.

MALE & FEMALE ENSEMBLE (Dancer/Vocalist) - Female/Male 18+ - Should have very strong rock voices and the ability and experience to cover. Must be able to handle dialogue. They must be excellent dancers; acrobatic skills are an asset.

ARIEL - Female - 18+ - A mermaid and King Triton's youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kind hearted. Vocal range top: Gb5. Vocal range bottom: Ab3

PRINCE ERIC - Male - 18+ - A human monarch who has no interest of taking the crown. A handsome, affable lad with a buoyant, adventurous nature. After Ariel saves his life, he becomes obsessed with finding her and hearing her voice once more. Vocal range top: G4. Vocal range bottom: B2

GRIMSBY - Male - 40+ - Prince Eric's British guardian. Droll, stuffy, and constantly urging Eric towards his royal duties, specifically marriage. Vocal range top: C4. Vocal range bottom: C3

FLOUNDER - Male - 15+ - A fish and smitten with Ariel, his best friend. Rambunctious but cautious, fearful of the dangers that lurk in and above the water. Vocal range top: G4. Vocal range bottom: A2

SCUTTLE - Male - 18+ - A disheveled seagull and expert in human artifacts. Loudmouthed, optimistic, and a bit ignorant, despite his supposed expertise. Vocal range top: G4. Vocal range bottom: C3

KING TRITON - Male - 30+ - King of the Sea and Ariel's father. Beneath his imposing presence and commanding nature lurks a harried single father who will do anything to protect his daughters. The death of his wife has also given him an irrational fear of humans. Vocal range top: F4. Vocal range bottom: Ab2

SEBASTIAN - Male - 18+ - A crab and advisor to King Triton. A musical virtuoso who is constantly distraught from keeping after Ariel. Despite his paranoia, he can't bring himself to stand in Ariel's way. Vocal range top: C5. Vocal range bottom: Bb2

FLOTSAM - Male - 18+ - An eel and one of Ursula's lackeys. Oily and spineless, he will say anything you want or need to hear. Vocal range top: C5. Vocal range bottom: E3

URSULA - Female - 30+ - The banished Sea Witch and sister of King Triton. Supposedly spurned at childhood, she will use whatever method necessary to steal the kingdom and claim it as her own. Malevolent, calculating, and deceptive. Vocal range top: C5. Vocal range bottom: Eb3

CHEF LOUIS - Male - 18+ - The French palace chef, diabolical and violent. A culinary perfectionist with an affinity for blades, seafood in particular. Vocal range top: A4. Vocal range bottom: Bb2
